Barron Trump, has had his social life put under the limelight after he was dubbed an “oddity” at New York University. However, an insider close to the college-goer has revealed much of his life, and some of it is far from what one would expect from Donald Trump’s child.
Barron began his NYU journey in 2024 under constant Secret Service protection. According to UNILAD, the bodyguards swap their traditional suits and shades for dressed-down campus-friendly attire. It’s also reported that the agents’ commitment to protecting Barron can go to bizarre lengths, which include escorting the exceptionally tall college student to the bathroom.
He reportedly travels from Trump Tower to NYU daily in a convoy of black SUVs with NYPD escorts. Weaving through Manhattan traffic, he reaches a discreet NYU garage from which he quietly enters campus grounds.

Public scrutiny and security have clearly limited Barron’s social interactions on campus. Earlier this year, NYU College Republicans’ president, Kaya Walker, called Barron an “oddity on campus” in an interview with Vanity Fair.
Another student told the magazine that he “wasn’t really allowed to do stuff.” Walker had to resign from her position after facing significant public backlash for her words about Barron.
A source close to Barron recently spoke to Radar Online, describing how he can’t fully experience the life of a regular college student. The president’s 19-year-old son has reportedly been communicating via video games.
“He has added it to his repertoire. It’s his communication platform of choice,” the insider said of Barron’s use of Xbox after earlier connecting with his friends using Discord. Barron can’t share his phone number since it “creates more trouble than it’s worth.”
Hence, he shares his gamer tag only with people he personally knows. The source added, “It’s gamer bro culture, they ask each other for their gamer tag. He knows the people.”
Barron uses Xbox to voice chat and text, making it his preferred communication channel. The gaming platforms help him maintain friendships while preserving his security and privacy. He has apparently built a genuine friend circle mainly through selective in-person meetings and digital platforms.
Speaking of the president’s son’s chance with the ladies, another insider shared he is “really popular with the ladies” and “a ladies’ man.” Apparently, his good looks and charm draw in people with opposing political views from those of his family. The source claimed, “He’s tall and handsome. A lot of people seem to think he’s pretty attractive – yes, even liberal people like him.”
Back in September, the president’s young son already made headlines when he shut down a floor of Trump Tower for a date. The identity of the guest remains a secret.
In May, some reports claimed that Barron had been enjoying his college life at NYU with his girlfriend and “low-key” circle of friends. A friend on campus told NewsNation, “Barron has a really nice girlfriend and hangs out with her a lot. He does have friends, [but] he just (unlike his father, Donald) screws the limelight.”
The friend also compared Barron to his mother, Melania Trump. They said how he is much more like the First Lady as he “keeps his head down and gets on with it. He is not trying to be [a] BMOC (big man on campus).”

As per the friend, Barron is not interested in campus politics. They added, “Barron is pretty apolitical – he doesn’t get involved. That’s not what he’s interested in.”
