Late right-wing political activist Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, was recently asked about forgiving her husband’s assassin. She first made the remarks in September 2025, shortly after her husband’s death. It led to some mixed reactions on social media.

However, in her latest interview on Fox News Sunday, on December 28, 2025, Erika backed her statement. She called the main reason behind her forgiveness of Charlie’s assassin her faith and trust in the Almighty.

The 37-year-old said, “It’s interesting because I keep getting the same question. ‘How could you forgive him? How could you forgive the man who murdered your husband?’ And the answer, to me, is just so simple. You trust in the Lord.”

She added, “And when you trust in the Lord, you do it. And faith is so powerful when it’s lived out. But I don’t have this massive, in-depth answer. God is good. The world is evil. Don’t be surprised when the world acts like the world.”

Erika furthermore explained that surrendering herself to God, abiding by his purpose for her, made it easier for her to take this difficult decision.

The mother of two said, “But I know that the Lord will use everything. But, when you know that without a shadow of a doubt that the Lord is your refuge, the Lord is your strength, and you wake up every morning and you say, ‘God, give me the grace. Show me the direction I’m supposed to go.”

Erika repeated her late husband’s words at the Turning Point USA Amfest event from two years ago. The former Miss Arizona said, “Use me.’ Just like Charlie said on stage two years ago here at AmFest [AmericaFest]. ‘Use me, Lord. Here I am.’ And when you surrender your life to that and that posture, everything else around you is just irrelevant, because God is so good.”

She revealed that her faith in the Almighty has not wavered even after the catastrophic event in her life. Erika said that she still converses with God in the same manner as before.

Elaborating on this, Erika said, “Quite frankly, [conversations] are kind of the same. I’ve never questioned, ‘Why me?’ I always knew that my life was not just to be lived for me. We’re here for such a greater purpose. And Charlie and I both knew that. And that’s why Charlie built what he built.”

The TPUSA CEO added how she has been asking God to help her heal and guide her. The 37-year-old said, “And I talked to God, like I said, the same way. You know, ‘God use me. God, heal my heart. You know my pain. You know the depths of my pain. Walk through this with me. Put the people in my path that will help heal me, and guide me, and direct me, and keep me in lockstep with your will.”

She added, “I don’t want anything outside of God’s will, I do not. Anything outside of the jet streams of God’s will, I do not—I will not even touch it with a 10-foot pole.”

Apart from this, Erika Kirk also revealed that she speaks to her late husband, Charlie Kirk, normally about her life. While some appreciated her unconditional faith in God, her naysayers called her out when she had first proclaimed to forgive Charlie’s assassin.
