Donald Trump’s Attorney General, Pam Bondi, appears to have found herself embroiled in controversy over her handling of the Epstein case. She had previously publicly promised to prosecute anyone connected to the late Jeffrey Epstein. However, fact-checkers have since challenged her statements following her response to threats of contempt of Congress from two lawmakers for failing to release Epstein-related documents.

According to Raw Story, two members of Congress, Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie, are threatening to hold Bondi in contempt of Congress for not releasing documents related to Epstein, which she was legally required to disclose under a law passed last month.

Instead of explaining why the documents have not been released, Bondi, in her response to the lawmakers’ threats, reiterated her intention to pursue and prosecute anyone else allegedly involved in Epstein’s crimes.

Her response came across more as a reaffirmation of her commitment to prosecuting individuals connected to Epstein’s network, rather than a direct explanation for the delay in releasing the documents.

According to the outlet, Bondi had previously posted, “The Department of Justice previously stated we will bring charges against anyone involved in the trafficking and exploitation of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims. We reaffirm this commitment and ask any victim to please come forward with any information pertaining to any individuals who engaged in illicit activity at their expense. We have met with many victims and victim groups, and will continue to do so if more reach out.”

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche told NBC’s Meet the Press that he did not take the threats seriously. Bondi subsequently encouraged anyone with information related to the case to contact her, her deputy, or federal authorities.

“Please contact me, DAG Blanche, or the FBI, and we will investigate immediately,” she posted. “We believe in the equal standard of justice in this country and will ensure that Justice is served.”

However, this appeared to contradict Bondi’s earlier support for the DOJ and FBI’s decision not to release any additional evidence related to the Epstein case over the summer, a move that reignited public scrutiny of the issue.

The apparent inconsistency sparked backlash on social media, with users accusing Bondi of hypocrisy and calling for her resignation. One user wrote, “301 days ago, Pam Bondi said she would release the Epstein Files. Today, she released a heavily redacted version of the files. Another failure by this Attorney General. She needs to resign.”

Another user wrote, “I will vote for any President who campaigns on arresting Pam Bondi over the cover-up of the Epstein Files.”

A third user shared a clip of Bondi lighting candles and wrote, “Instead of releasing the Epstein files, Pam Bondi is lighting candles on a menorah. America is Occupied.”

Another user wrote, “She will never admit anything. Nor answer a question. Lies of omission.”

Followed by another tweet which read, “I guess President Trump is ok with her making his administration look effective on law and order. He’s ultimately letting it happen. He could have replaced her a long time ago, but he hasn’t.”

A couple of days back, Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna shared a video on his X handle along with a strong message regarding the same.

Khanna shared the video on Thursday, December 18, 2025, warning that not even an “attorney general” would be spared if they try to hamper or conceal the documents in the Epstein files by the 11:59 deadline for the release on Friday.

The Democrat was heard saying, “Let me be very clear, we need a full release. Anyone who tampers with documents, or conceals documents, or engages in excessive redaction will be prosecuted for obstruction of justice.”

He warned that they would prosecute even an attorney general or a political appointee in the event of any discrepancy or delay in the release of the Epstein files.

Khanna added, “We will prosecute individuals regardless of whether they’re the attorney general or a career or political appointee. We need full transparency and justice for the survivors.” The warning was clearly directed at Pam Bondi.

For now, it remains to be seen what happens next regarding Pam Bondi and her commitment to releasing the Epstein files.
