But we bet that you wouldn’t have heard of this unique problem that a woman on Reddit, who wanted her relationship to end in marriage, has shared with the community. The revelation is nothing short of jaw-dropping.

According to People, a woman on Reddit has asked for help after she was left stuck after a bizarre demand from her perfect boyfriend, whom she thought of marrying. This forced her to make an impossible choice, having to choose between her love and her family’s core values.

In the post that she made on the platform, the woman explained that she was under a lot of pressure from her family to get married. She was even considering her long-time boyfriend for this prospect, but it looks like their relationship was not meant to end on a happy note. A small conversation with him changed everything for her.

In her post, she mentioned that they were both from different Asian backgrounds, and the pressure from her family about marriage was high. She even mentioned in the post that her boyfriend seemed perfect in every other way and even called him an “incredible partner”.

“He loves me deeply and takes excellent care of me. He cooks, handles everything when I’m sick, gives me constant affection (GM/GN kisses), and is financially generous. I asked for $300 once, and he sent $1,000. He even fought with his sister to defend me. We have a genuinely great life together,” she wrote. Despite all of this, she could not take their relationship further.

Explaining the reason, the woman revealed that her boyfriend had been upfront from the beginning that he wanted to pursue other women once he was financially stable. The woman further stated that this expectation always lingered in the background while their relationship was progressing.

When, after years of dating, she finally raised the idea of marriage, the boyfriend agreed, but had one condition. “He agreed, but only under one condition: I must accept an open relationship,” she wrote. There came the shock for her after she thought they would take their relationship to the next step.

Not just that, he also wanted her to date other people so that he would not feel guilty. She even went on to claim that he had not cheated on her till now, but his intentions were clear from day one. And on being thrown over with the idea of marriage, the woman revealed that he was even more firm with this idea, which made it impossible for her to take their relationship to the next level.

She explained that her core value tells her that she can never see her man with any other woman. She even said that it would not be possible for her to commit to a man who would seek other women even after their marriage.

It was only because of this that she decided to end this relationship, as she chose herself over the relationship. “I told him that because we were fundamentally incompatible, I needed to break up and move out.”

The woman further went on to reveal what happened next and why it became even more difficult for her to exit from this relationship. “He was actively blocking my attempts to move, telling me ‘it’s not safe for you to be alone,’” she wrote.

She further described that her boyfriend would go from not caring at all if she broke up to frantically texting her nonstop when she tried to create distance within minutes. He told her that he loved her too much to let her go.

This made her wonder if she was taking the right step by quitting this relationship or not. But the comments that she received from the Reddit community were definitely not in his favor. Those people asked her to prioritize her safety and freedom, dump him, and block him.
