The Turning Point USA AmericaFirst launch event on Sunday, December 21, 2025, was marked by controversy after U.S. Vice President JD Vance made a remark about Democratic Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett in response to her Senate ambitions.

According to indy100.com, Vance mocked her political aspirations, calling her a “street girl persona.” He said, “Jasmine Crockett! Oh, Jasmine Crockett, the record speaks for itself. She wants to be a senator, though her street-girl persona is about as real as her nails.”

The remark prompted boos from the crowd. Crockett has since responded to the Vice President, taking a jab at both Vance and his “boss,” President Donald Trump.

On her X account, Crockett wrote, “Imagine commenting on someone’s nails while at the same time ignoring that the only reason that you attained your political dream job was because your boss incited a violent mob who wanted to hang your predecessor for oh, I don’t know, honoring his oath to the constitution?”

She furthermore took a jibe at the Vice President and said that he should try to stop Trump from allegedly bankrupting the country. The 44-year-old added, “How about you stop worrying about me until we are on the Senate floor together and work to stop your boss from bankrupting our country while engaging in the largest corruption scheme we’ve ever seen?”

Some social media users also supported the Democratic congresswoman and further lashed out at the Vice President. One X user said, “Changed his name five times, changed his religion at least once that we know of. Funded by Peter Thiel, endorsed by Erika Kirk.”

A social media user added, “He now kneels at the feet of the guy whom he once called America’s Hitler. The guy (Vance) is pathetic.” Praising Crockett for hitting back at the Vice President, a user stated, “Please run for the President or at least the Vice President.”

Another user on X praised Jasmine and added, “Loved you on the TPUSA stream, that was very brave.” An X user criticized Vance and said, “My problem with his remark is that it isn’t a criticism but an insinuation. Vague, incoherent language used to signal contempt rather than to make a point.”

However, one of the social media users did not seem to agree with Crockett’s statement. The comment said, “This comment makes absolutely no sense, Congresswoman. You have no problem insulting others, but then whine when it happens to you.”

According to The Daily Beast, speaking to MS Now Primetime host Antonia Hylton, Crockett said that the U.S. Vice President was trying to “rile up his base.”

She said, “At the end of the day, I am who I am, and I am authentic. And that is actually what they are fearful of, my authenticity. Because it rings true with every single American, whether they’re a Texan or not.”

Crockett clapped back at Vance’s political record since the latter had taken a dig at her “record” in his speech. She added, “It rings true that I am fighting for real, everyday people. And instead of talking about policy, when you’re talking about the record speaks for itself, baby, let’s talk about your record.”
