It is no secret that Meghan Markle‘s relationship with her father, Thomas Markle, has hit rock bottom since her 2017 engagement. Although there were reports of the Duchess trying to connect with her estranged father after his health crisis, no confirmation on that has come out. And now, a royal expert has revealed the real reason why the former actress won’t see her estranged father again. 

According to Woman and Home, royal expert Emily Andrews shared her thoughts on the entire fiasco surrounding Meghan and her father and why she would never see him again. She exclaimed that the Duchess used to be really close to her father, Thomas. Until one day, he staged paparazzi photos of himself ahead of his daughter’s royal wedding to Prince Harry. 

Thomas posed for these photos at his home in Mexico and lied about it to Harry and Meghan. It was after this moment that the father-daughter duo were no longer on speaking terms. In pictures sold around the time of the royal wedding in 2018, we could see the Duchess’s father reading books on British royalty and other staged situations. 

Andrews further revealed that just ahead of Harry and Meghan’s wedding, Thomas had suffered from two heart attacks and was not in a state to make the journey to attend it. According to her, when she broke this news to the Duke’s Communications Secretary, he had no idea what was going on. 

In fact, even Meghan was taken aback upon hearing this, as she did not learn about the health crisis directly from her father but from news reports. Andrews claimed, “Meghan then apparently deleted Tom’s phone number, and the two hadn’t spoken since.” 

If the recent reports about Markle sending a letter and email to her ill father in the hospital after his amputation took place are accurate, then that is the only communication that has happened between the two since 2018. 

Andrews, in her article, revealed that her dad’s ‘collusion with the media’ has been a significant factor in the breakdown of their relationship. But she takes a different view of this situation and believes it could be avoided with some simple steps. 

“A courtier told me if Meghan and Harry had brought over her Markle family a couple of weeks before the wedding, put them up in a nice hotel and had them looked after by palace staff, none of this would ever have happened,” she reported.

And now the situation is such that Thomas, who is currently struggling with his prosthetic leg, would likely never see his daughter again. “No one emerges the victor here. Least of all Meghan,” Andrews concluded in her column. 

Talking about Thomas’ health crisis, according to OK!, he was rushed to a hospital in the Philippines after a blood clot in his left leg cut off circulation to the limb. It was due to this that his leg had to be amputated.

Another report in OK! stated that the Duchess’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., revealed in an interview that “cutting off his leg was the only option.” He continued, “I was told the leg had to be removed, and it was a case of life or death. One of his doctors said the next two or three days are critical. They were worried about infection setting in—sepsis or gangrene. The flesh was black and dying.”

We wonder if there will ever come a time when the father-daughter duo will talk to each other and restore normalcy.
